Volunteer to save the lives of homeless pets
VDR is always in need of dedicated motivated volunteers who have a heart and passion for helping animals! No matter what your talent we have a program for you!
Currently seeking individuals for:
- Transport (local) - Driving dogs locally to and from vetting appointments, foster homes, etc.
- Transport (long distance) - Driving dogs from shelters or fosters, delivering dogs to transport drop off locations. Help move pets out of overcrowded shelters from one Texas city to another or to regions of the country where they have a much greater chance of being adopted
- Foster Outreach - Help find people or families willing to foster an animal
- Fundraising - Raise money so we can continue the lifesaving work we do
- Social Media - Maintain and post to our social media platforms
- Photography - Help us get snapshots of our rescue dog's best looks! This is often key in getting a dog adopted
- Training - Help teach our pets good manners that they can show off in their new homes
- Grant Writing - Help us write our story so we can share it with organizations that give grants to help us save more animals
- Admin Work - From administrative and marketing roles we have lifesaving volunteer opportunities suited for you and your interests.
- Kennel Maintenance - Cleaning and disinfecting kennel spaces
- Merch Design - Design cool stuff for our online shop

With thousands of dogs in shelters across the country, hoping for their very own families, one of the most valuable gifts you can give is your time!
VDR believes that knowing better leads to doing better. According to research, 40% of dog owners learned about their pet through word of mouth. That means that your voice matters! It has also been reported that only 23% of pets were adopted from rescues and shelters. That means that your voice has work to do.
You can advocate in MANY ways! TALK to your friends and family. Encourage spay and neuter. Share social media posts. Purchase merchandise with proactive messages. Every voice is important as we come together to champion those with no voices. They may be silent, but their impact is loud.
